The Jarvis Lounge

Last night, I had the opportunity to catch The Lonely Wild (thelonelywild.com) at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa (thewayfarer.com), the old Detroit Bar. I hadn’t been to the venue since January, where I coincidentally caught The Lonely Wild during one of their residency shows there. The venue is more open now, allowing people seated to have a better view of the bands. The band went on after 11, and they were amazing. While their set included some new songs, it was the emotion driven “Buried in the Murder” closer that reminded me why I love everything about this band. Their timing was tight, and lead singer Andrew Carroll seems to give just a little more each time he sings it. I’ve seen almost 80 bands live this year, and they’re still one of my favorites.
