It’s been a few months (!) since my last blog highlighting new music, so I wanted to highlight some of the new acts that I’m listening to these days. Make time and check them out!
* The Amazing – “Picture You” This entire album is sonic bliss, coming from Sweden’s The Amazing. A mix of 70’s band America-like vocals, with a bit of Beck and even Pink Floyd, I’ve found myself listening to this album on repeat. The title track is a highlight, clocking in at almost 10 minutes. This album probably won’t crack the pop charts here, but in 2015, that may be a compliment (http://www.theamazing.se/)
* Until The Ribbon Breaks (UTRB) – “A Lesson Unlearnt” UK band Until The Ribbon Breaks (UTRB), who recently had an awesome article written about them in the WSJ (http://www.wsj.com/articles/until-the-ribbon-breaks-is-on-the-verge-of-something-bigger-1424817457), and coming off a year where they opened for the likes of Phantogram, and Lorde, this band/album has become an early favorite of mine this year. I recently had the chance to watch them live, and I’ll save that story for a future blog. Needless, to say they’re going to blow some minds at Coachella this year. * The Lonely Wild – “Running” The new single from one of my favorite bands, “Running,” has a bit of an old Arcade Fire feel, without losing any of the band’s original sound and energy. They’re going to be at SXSW this year, and I’m jealous that I won’t be there. (http://www.thelonelywild.com/)
*Postiljonen – “Supreme,” “Atlantis” Another act I had a chance to watch recently, I’ve really been digging a few cuts from their last album. They did an acoustic set live, which highlighted their musicianship, and amazing vocals from lead singer, Mia. I’ll be posting about their show (complete with pics) soon.
