It’s been over four months since my last blog, and I think it’s time to pick it up again! There’s been so much good music, live and recorded out there, that I’m going to have backtrack in the coming weeks, and post pics of some amazing shows. For now, I’m going to focus on the most recent show I went to. Last Sunday, there was another GREAT Mimosa Music Series show, put on by KCRW’s Gary Calamar. Nina Gordon and Louise Post of Veruca Salt, put on an amazing acoustic set, highlighting cuts from their new album “Ghost Notes,” along with some older classics like “Seether” and “Benjamin.” I like their new album, even though I’ll admit, I didn’t follow them as closely in the 90’s. It’s good to see the original lineup intact; the distinct blending of their two voices was on display last Sunday. Performing a solo acoustic set before them, was Holly Miranda, who pleasantly surprised with this awesome voice. Here are some pics I shot at the event.

In other news, Outside Lands in San Francisco, is only two weeks away! Originally, I wasn’t as stoked by the lineup, as I have been with past lineups. But here’s a list of artists I plan on seeing (even if I have to split the time between stages:
Friday 8/7
Natalie Prass, Speedy Ortiz, Lake Street Dive, Leon Bridges, First Aid Kit, St. Vincent, Glass Animals, Wilco, Porter Robinson, D’Angelo, and Mumford & Sons
Saturday 8/8
Twin Peaks, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Laura Marling, Cold War Kids, Django Django, Angus and Julia Stone, Billy Idol, Milky Chance, Tame Impala, Ben Harper, and Kendrick Lamar
Sunday 8/9
SZA, Allah-Las, St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Givers, Hot Chip, Odesza, Sam Smith, Caribou, and Elton John
***My marathon training will definitely help me out, getting between sets!
That’ll do for now. I’ll be back on soon! Blog on!
