The Lounge Returns

The blog is back in 2024, with new blogs coming out every Friday. I just wanted to say Happy New Year with a short blog, and welcome you to the lounge.

JarFIVE

  1. Coachella Lineup delayed?

With the second week of the year coming to an end, the Coachella lineup still has not been released. There’s plenty of speculation on Reddit as to why it’s late, complete with guesses on release dates. Most people speculate the delay being due to some changes occurring with people scheduled to play. HITS Daily Double published that the headliners would be Lana Del Rey and Tyler, The Creator, with Doja Cat not yet confirmed as the third headliner. Lana and Tyler were both on my mock lineup (though I had Tyler in the Returning to the Desert spot). Due to the long weekend, I’m guessing the lineup will be out next week. Per usual, I’m more interested in the names below the headlining acts. I plan on going to Weekend 1 this year (a first for me).

  1. Bottlerock Lineup released on 1/8

The first major lineup released this year (unofficially via a Forbes article hours before), Bottlerock returns with its 11th edition, led by Pearl Jam, Ed Sheeran, Stevie Nicks, and Maná. All 3-Day GA, VIP, and fancier tickets are sold out. At the time of this blog, you can still get single day GA passes. You can also attempt to request sold out tickets, via the Lyte Exchange. Just a heads up though: at this moment, 3-Day VIP tix are going for $2149. I’ll be going over this lineup as we get closer to the event.

  1. Other festival lineups also out this week

While the live music world waits for the Coachella lineup, other festivals have been posting their lineups. Boston Calling, Hangout, and Bonnaroo (below) are two of the larger multi-genre fests. BeachLife was scheduled to be released, but has been postponed to next week. Hangout is put on by AEG, the company behind Coachella, so the two could share a headliner with Lana Del Rey.

  1. New album from Kid Cudi out today – INSANO

Kid Cudi has new music out today, complete with a stop here in Long Beach for a signing at Fingerprints Music at 5pm. This is my Friday afternoon listen. Also, to promote the album, this statue was floating around LB harbor. The only time I ever caught Kid Cudi live was in 2019 at Coachella, with Kanye guesting on a number of Kids See Ghosts tracks.

  1. I’m starting a music podcast.

The caption says it. I’ve been wanting to start one for a couple of years now, so I’m finally doing it. It’s going to coincide with this blog, highlighting my weekly JarFive, new music (Tasting Room), live events on the horizon, and bits about music history. Oh, and guests! I’m looking to roll it out in March. Stay tuned!

The Tasting Room

The Tasting Room will be the segment of my blog where I feature artists. I’ll be featuring a weekly new artist, starting on 1/19.
