  1. Coachella is next week!

The first weekend of Coachella starts a week from today, and I’m starting to get excited. This is my first time going Weekend 1, so I’m going to be just as surprised by everything, as everyone else. Here are a few things (thanks in part to the Reddit sub):

  1. There’s supposedly an unannounced artist scheduled for the Mojave Stage. Some people speculate it’ll be Glass Animals, since they’re playing a soldout show at Pappy and Harriets on April 11. This would be awesome.
  2. Tyler has put up a Billboard, saying “I would love to see y’all faces and not your phone lights.” Nice thought, 100% not happening.
  3. There’s also a rumor that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will be there to watch Lana Del Rey headline. Good luck to the people that will be sprinting to get a spot when gates open, to watch Taylor watching Lana. And then find out she’s not going to be out in the public anyway.
  4. Since I’ll be at Coachella next week, there won’t be a blog. But I am planning on releasing the first episode of my podcast earlier in the week (see below).

  1. The Black Keys have a new album out, “Ohio Players”

After some rain early this morning, I took off for a run (I’ve got a while to go, to get into shape for a marathon in October). I decided to put on the new album by The Black Keys. They were one of my favorite groups over a decade back, blowing me away with live sets in 2013 and 2014. I hadn’t followed them as much over the last decade, but I like this album. You won’t find any major surprises (except the collab with Beck and Juicy J), but it was a solid listen throughout. They also made a surprise stop last night at Highland Park Bowl (LA’s oldest bowling alley) for a live set.

  1. Khruangbin’s new album “A La Sala” is out today.

Just in time for their Coachella appearance next week, Khruangbin released their latest album, and their first record on their own since 2020.I gave it a listen after my run, walking with the sun breaking through the clouds along the beach. Give it a listen!

  1. Pharrell releases new album, unannounced and not on streaming services.

The heading basically says everything, except for the link, which is here. You can stream the album, or download it. Not much is known about the album, but other artists have mentioned it. It’s titled “Black Yacht Rock, Vol. 1: City of Limitless Access

  1. I’m planning on releasing my podcast next week.

When the year started, I’d planned on releasing my podcast before mid-March. But teaching seven classes at two schools, has kept me busier than I’d anticipated. Oh, and keeping up a weekly blog too. But I have the first episode written, and ready to record. And I’m hoping to have it up this coming week, right before Coachella. When that happens, this blog will be more of a reference page for music I discuss. Thanks if you’ve made it this far, and cheers to the next step!
