  1. “The Beach Boys” documentary is on Disney+. I talk about the film on my recent episode, and made a reference to The Beach Boys’ later work. In particular, a universally panned album that they recorded called “Summer in Paradise” (1992). After the immense success of “Kokomo,” they tried to replicate the success with similar Beach Boy tropes. The album is hard to find, and not available on streaming. But here’s a clip on YouTube, along with the music video for one of the songs. I’m sorry in advance.
Here’s the full album; the comments on YouTube are gold.
This video of one of the tracks is arguably one of the worst things Mike Love has ever done. And dragging Brian Wilson into it? Oof.
  1. “Stax – Soulsville USA” documentary is on HBO. The film goes over the history of the famous Memphis record label. For this post, I wanted to highlight the “Wattstax” event that occurred in 1972. I’ve included video of the trailer for the event, along with some clips of performances.

Jamie xx also released this new track the same day he announced the upcoming album.
  1. I talk about a number of tours announced this week. Here’s the information, including Kendrick Lamar’s surprise show at the Forum later this month.
  1. Wallice has a live show coming up on June 7, in LA. I’ve included a link for info, as well as a few videos of her music to check out.

The Tasting Room – Bully

For this week’s tasting room artist, I decided to feature Bully. Here are clips from the songs mentioned in the podcast episode:
