- Happy birthday to Stephen Foster the ‘father of American Music,’ born on July 4, 1826.
- Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The USA” album is 40 years old this year. The title track is one of the most misunderstood tracks in pop music. I’ve also included the acoustic version mentioned in the episode.
4. Another 4th of July track, Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner from Woodstock (1969).
- Sufjan Stevens wrote his song “Fourth of July,” from his “Carrie & Lowell” album, about his mother dying from cancer.
