Feature on Bond Songs

For the rest of the episode, I talk about the history of songs written for James Bond movies. Here are some highlights from that feature, with a focus on some of the lesser known tracks.

The other song written for Thunderball, “Mr. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.” Sung by Shirley Bassey (the other version was recorded by Dionne Warwick).

Here’s the song Johnny Cash recorded for Thunderball.

Coldplay covering “You Only Live Twice”

Björk covering “You Only Live Twice.”

Dusty Springfield singing “The Look of Love” from the original Casino Royale.
Arctic Monkeys covering “Diamonds are Forever.”
Kanye West sampling “Diamond are Forever” for his huge hit.
Carly Simon singing “Nobody Does It Better,” since this song is not available on streaming services (at the time of this blog).
Patti LaBelle singing “If You Asked Me To,” from the film Licence to Kill. The song would later be covered by Celine Dion, who had a hit with it.
k.d. lang singing “Surrender,” which appeared at the end of Tomorrow Never Dies. This should have been the main theme.
