Last December, my friend and colleague Doug Kresse, asked if I wanted to go watch some band up in North Hollywood’s Federal Bar. This show was a part of series known as Mimosa Music Series (https://www.facebook.com/MimosaMusicSeries), hosted by KCRW’s Gary Calamar. The band, among others we watched, was a group called Echosmith. They were on the verge of unleashing their pop fury on the world, driven by a catchy-as-fuck song called “Cool Kids.” Since then, I’ve seen them make TV appearances, climb the charts (last I checked, “Cool Kids” hit number 13 on the pop chart), and they’re VH1’s Artist of the Month. I met them after their performance, and even got a picture with them. The group includes three brothers on the instruments, and their sister Sydney singing lead. Cool (and sweet) kids, they were. Check them out at the their website (http://www.echosmith.com). I was also able to take some cool pics of them during their performance, which I’ve posted. All pics are mine, except for the one of me with the group (taken by Doug Kresse).
